Sound familiar?

Your colleague says “great idea, I was just thinking the same” in front of everyone, and your afternoon is gone. You rehearse the comeback in the shower, in the car, at dinner. You've watched the shadow work videos and bought the workbook. It's still on the shelf, because doing it alone at 9 p.m., with that heat in your chest, is a different thing.

With Reeborn

This time you open Kael. Name it. Where is it in your body? Chest, a 7 out of 10. Now speak as her for a minute. Halfway through, it lands: she claims credit out loud, and you have never once said “that was my idea.” By the end it isn't about her. It's one sentence you'll say in Thursday's meeting.

What shadow work is

Your "shadow" is the set of qualities you learned to hide or reject: anger, need, ambition, softness. They do not go away. They show up as the colleague you cannot stand, the reaction that is bigger than the moment, the thing you swear you would never do. Shadow work means turning toward those reactions with curiosity instead of judgment, and finding what they protect.

How Kael guides a session

Bring something that got under your skin. Kael follows a clear sequence, one question at a time:

  1. Name the trigger. What happened, in plain words.
  2. Feel it in the body. Where it sits, and how strong, from 0 to 10.
  3. Face it. Speak to the quality you reacted to, then as it, the classic 3-2-1 process.
  4. Own the healthy part. The small, healthy version of that quality you might be refusing yourself.
  5. Find the gold and integrate it: one small step you can take this week.

You can stop at any point. If a conversation shows signs of real distress, Reeborn pauses the work and shows crisis resources, which are always free.

Parts work, journaling and breath around it

Reeborn takes a parts work approach: the part of you that reacts is not the enemy, it is trying to help. Two guided journal templates support this, a trigger map and a dialogue with a part. Aria, the second guide, connects today to what you shared last week and shows recurring patterns on your Inner map. And when a session leaves you stirred up, a short breathwork practice or Yoga Nidra helps you come back to the body.

Reeborn is a tool for self-reflection. It is not therapy and it does not replace a therapist; many people use it alongside one.

Which one fits

If you want a beautiful, long-term record of your life on every device, Day One is a strong choice. If AI journaling in many languages, on Android or the web, matters most, look at Rosebud. Stoic suits a structured morning and evening routine. Open is built around teacher-led breathwork and movement classes. Reeborn is for when you want to talk things through out loud with a guide who remembers you, go into shadow work, and come back to your body, all in one iPhone app.

Surprisingly deep

I expected a basic AI chat. It goes much deeper than I thought it would.

Not generic.

Finally an AI that doesn’t just give generic wellness advice. It actually feels personal.

Questions

Can you do shadow work with an app?

You can practice its core steps with an app: noticing a trigger, feeling where it sits in the body, looking at the quality you react to and finding what it protects. Reeborn gives you a guide for those steps and remembers what you found. For heavy or traumatic material, work with a qualified therapist.

Who is Kael?

Kael is one of Reeborn's two AI guides, focused on shadow work: triggers, projection, the parts of you that you would rather not look at, and the gold in them. Aria, the other guide, focuses on everyday patterns and remembers what you share across sessions.

Is it safe to do shadow work on my own?

Go at your own pace and stop whenever you want. If a session stirs up too much, a short breathing practice can help you settle. If you notice signs of real distress, reach out to someone you trust or a crisis line; crisis resources in Reeborn are always free. Reeborn is not therapy.

What is the difference between shadow work and parts work?

Shadow work looks at qualities you learned to hide or reject. Parts work sees your inner life as a set of parts, such as a critic, a protector or a hurt younger part, each trying to help in its own way. Reeborn uses both: Kael guides shadow work, and the journal has a dialogue with a part template.

How much does Reeborn cost?

The free plan includes 20 messages a month with Aria and Kael, calming practices and reflections, with no card needed. Core costs $9.99 a month or $39.99 a year and Voice $21.99 a month or $109.99 a year in the US App Store (prices vary by country). Yearly plans start with a 7-day free trial.
